ARGUS #8: Acting for Architects, A Presentation Skills Workshop

“Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel”
-R. W. Emerson

Would you like to master the art of giving a compelling presentation? After establishing the basics, this workshop will teach you the skills of a performance artist but in direct relation to architectural presentations.

Goal and Objectives
A full day workshop aiming to enhance the structural and performative qualities of the students’ presentation skills. The workshop will involve individual and group practices, led by a professional presentation coach, deliberately focusing on every participant’s personal character and desired developmental course. Theoretical knowledge about structuring a presentation, defining your fascinations, formulating your main message and identifying your audience will be put in practice through a large scale of applied theater techniques. During these exercises the use of your voice, body language and other psychological factors will be challenged, improved and reflected upon.

Programme:
Introduction: Agenda, Icebreaker, Getting to know each other
Module: Personal Qualities: Working with Daniel Ofmans’ Core Qualities.
Module: Presentation skills (video introduction, elements of a good presentation)
Lunchbreak: Lunch is provided
Introduction exercise: Warming up voice, body and expression with theatre
Module: Space, your use of space, props and presenting
Module: Express yourself without words
Practice: Two minute presentations and feedback
Closing Reflections and Roundtable Discussion

Night of Philosophy Blog

This blog aims to show the process of organising the handful of events that will constitute this year’s Night of Philosophy. It will contain weekly reflections or updates, written by one of the members of the Night of Philosophy working group. It will revolve around this year’s theme The Post-Anthropocene.

We meet every Tuesday at 12:30 in the ARGUS space – if you’re interested in joining or contributing, feel free to come by!

Thanks for the support!
